Sookee is a musician, anti-fascist, East German, and mother. Through her many years of experience in discrimination-sensitive and power-critical discourses, she knows that the single-themed must give way to the multi-perspective when progressive societal change is to be the guiding principle of our actions. She is the host of various discussion and concert series and writes columns for “Veto Magazine” and “Kinderstark Magazine.” She has been active in the rap scene for over 20 years and ended her involvement in the structures of the classical music industry in March 2020 after six albums.
As “Sukini,” she transitioned musically to children’s cultural spheres in 2019 and has since been making songs that can be enjoyed jointly by younger and older audiences. Together with Sohra Behmanesh, she reflected on the work for her current children’s music album “Da haben wir den Salat” in a podcast of the same name.
